Harvest & Flushes

First Flush

The very first plucking of the year, in early spring — typically the most aromatic and most expensive.

After winter dormancy the bush concentrates nutrients into its first new shoots. In Darjeeling these arrive in March; in Japan, around April–May. First-flush teas are vivid, brisk, almost grassy, and command the highest prices.
