Tisane

/tih-ZAHN/

An infusion made from any plant other than Camellia sinensis — chamomile, mint, rooibos, hibiscus.

Although commonly called 'herbal tea', a tisane is technically not tea at all. Most tisanes are caffeine-free and were used medicinally long before tea reached the rest of the world.
